of the "Best of Miami" by Miami Today Michael Bander
has been practicing immigration law for over 24 years. Prior to becoming
an immigration attorney, he was a trial attorney with the U.S. Department
of Justice in Washington, D.C.; served as an officer with the United
States Agency for International Development in Asuncion, Paraguay; and
served as a Captain in the United States Army. His Bar admissions include:
Florida, 1973, District of Columbia (1972), Maryland (1964) and the
U.S. District Court Southern District of Florida. He received both his
B.A. (1960) and his law degree (1963) from the University of Virginia.
A member and former president
of the South Florida Chapter of AILA (American Immigration Lawyers Association),
Mr. Bander is also a founding member of IMMLAW, the national consortium
of immigration law firms and is a trustee of the Florida Bar Foundation.
Very active in the South Florida community, Mr. Bander is a past-president
of American Jewish Committee (Miami), and has chaired the immigration
committee of the American Jewish Committee's Domestic Affairs Commission.
He has also been on the Governor's Commission on Affordable Housing
and the City of Coral Gables Pension Board.

A graduate of the Joint Degree Program at the New York University School of
Law, Stephen has both a J.D. (law degree) and a LL.M (Master of Laws) in
Taxation. Majoring in International Relations with a concentration in Latin
American Affairs (and a minor in economics), he received his B.A. from the
University of Virginia, where he was elected to membership in the Raven
Society, the University's oldest honorary society. Mr. Bander is a member of
the Florida Bar (admitted 1999), the New York Bar (1998) the U.S. District
Courts, Southern and Middle Districts of Florida, and the 11th Circuit Court
of Appeals. He is also a member of the American Immigration Lawyers
Association.
